I'd like to teach the world to sing

As children we all dream of being something when we leave school, sometimes we achieve what we set out to do - sometimes our goals change.

When I was young I used to sing this song and this was my life's ambition to make the world a better place - I started off studying nursing, then went on to teaching - I was living the life I dreamed of. You might have noticed I use the word smiles often, my nickname was "Smiler" and the funny thing was it followed me - even to places where no one could have known my name.
Isn't it funny how some names just suite people?

What were your dreams as a child - did you follow your dreams?
Does your name suite you?

I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing

I'd like to build the world a home
and furnish it with love.
Grow apple trees and honey bees
and snow white turtle doves.
Teach the world to sing
in perfect harmony.
I'd like to hold it in my arms
and keep it company.

I'd like to see the world for once
all standing hand in hand.
And hear them echo through the hills
for peace throughout the land.

That's the song that I hear.
Let the world sing today.
A song of peace that echos on
And never goes away.

I'd like to see the world for once
all standing hand in hand;
And hear them echo through the hills
for peace throughout the land.
